Genesee Land Trust’s Butterfly Walk at Ganargua Creek Meadow Preserve
Genesee Land Trust invites the public to take the Butterfly Walk at Ganargua Creek Meadow Preserve on Saturday, July 11th from 10 a.m. until noon. Butterfly Club experts, Carol and David Southby are your guides. This event is free and open to the public. This event happens rain or shine!
Ganargua Creek Meadow is a 56 acre preserve, protected by Genesee Land Trust, in the town of Macedon, that is made up of an upland area of hardwoods, wildflowers and shrubs, the winding Ganargua Creek crossing a broad floodplain. There is an open meadow where food and cover for birds and other animals is abundant. There is exceptional butterfly habitat in the meadow.
Those attending the Butterfly Walk should wear long pants and appropriate footgear as there is poison ivy. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars and your own refreshments. Directions to the preserve are: From Rte. 31 in Macedon, turn south onto Rte. 306 (Wayneport Road). Turn east onto Wilkinson Rd. At the crest of the hill turn south onto Bunker Hill Dr. and park at the end. Registration is not required but is helpful. Call Genesee Land Trust at 256-2130 if you are able to attend or need more information. Please visit www.geneseelandtrust.org for more information. Again, the Butterfly Walk at Ganargua Creek Meadow Preserve takes place on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. until noon.
