On
March 21 st beginning at 7p.m., the Genesee Land Trust and the Penfield
Library will present a lecture and slide presentation by Don and
Donna Traver called, “In Search Of The Shoebill – A Voyage to Africa
.”
Members
of Genesee Land Trust, the Travers are birders who will take you
along on their wildlife safari in a quest to see at least one member
of every bird family. The lecture includes slides of Botswana ’s
Okavanga Delta to find the Shoebill in Zambia ’s Bangweulu Wetlands.
The
Travers have been birders for many years and are active in local
clubs. Donna was past president of the Rochester Birding Association
and Don is past president of the Genesee Ornithological Society
and Seth Green Chapter of Trout Unlimited. They began their quest
to see all bird families in 1994 and completed it last summer in
Sierra Leone, West Africa. Members of
the Genesee Land Trust, the Travers are birders who will take you
along on a stunning wildlife safari to Botswana 's Okavango
Delta. In the second part of the program we will go on northward
to Zambia 's Bangweulu Wetlands in search of the rare Shoebill or
Whale-headed Stork.
“In
Search of the Shoebill”, on March 21, is a free lecture and library
program for ages 13 to adult, co-sponsored by the Friends of the
Penfield Public Library and the Genesee Land Trust. It does require
registration which begins on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7 th . To register,
