Genesee
Land Trust Named Beneficiary of HSBC’s Green Campaign
Genesee
Land Trust, the local land trust serving Greater Rochester, has
been selected as a recipient of a grant related to HSBC’s There’s
No Small Change Campaign , a national green
banking initiative benefiting eleven environmental charities nationwide.
With
a strong and serious commitment to the environment, HSBC has a history
of sponsoring grassroots efforts in the communities it serves and
has had a relationship with Genesee Land Trust since 2002, gifting
the Trust with $55,000 over the last five years.
The
There’s No Small Change campaign will not only bring attention
to and reward environmentally conscious customers but will also
donate up to $1 million to local environmental charities. HSBC is
the first major bank to go carbon neutral and continually finds
ways to make a positive impact on the environment.. During the campaign,
HSBC is offering Green Kits to customers, encouraging paperless
statements and online banking. The HSBC microsite, www.theresnosmallchange.com
, explains the campaign in further detail and discusses what
proceeds will be distributed to the designated charities. The campaign
which concludes in June, is guaranteeing a minimum gift of $50,000
to each charity, including Genesee Land Trust.
“For
18 years, the Genesee Land Trust has had a tangible impact in the
Greater Rochester region, protecting over 2500 acres of critical
habitat,” said Paul Lawrence, President
and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank USA
, N.A. “We are proud to continue
to support the great work they do and demonstrate our commitment
to the environment and the communities we live, work and do business
in.”
“We
are grateful for HSBC’s confidence in Genesee Land Trust and thankful
for their long-time commitment to the environment,” said Gay Mills,
Executive Director of the Trust. “The support of our 1000 members,
and corporate contributors, especially HSBC has made our land conservation
success possible.”
Genesee

of the Greater Rochester Area in 1989. It protects
over 2500 acres of woods, wetlands, waterways, working- farmland,
critical, historical and recreational habitats primarily in Monroe
and Wayne County .
