The Genesee Land Trust’s Annual Meeting took place
this year at the Boathouse of the Genesee Waterways. After
an informative year’s end summary by Robert Kraus, outgoing
President of the Board of Directors, and Gay Mills, Executive
Director, board elections took place. Results included: Tom
Tette, President, Robert Kraus, Vice President and Bill McIlvride,
Secretary. Joining the officers as members-at-large on the
Trust’s Steering Committee are board members: Suzanne
Wheatcraft, John Morelli and Tom Frey. Carolyn Hunt, long
time volunteer and development committee advisor, was voted
in as a new board member. Connie Ehindero is returning to
the board as well as continuing her committee work.
The business portion of the meeting concluded with the awarding
of Volunteers of the Year. Genesee Land Trust is lucky to
have many invaluable volunteers making this year’s decision
a particularly difficult one. After careful deliberation it
was decided to award two of the GLT’s most devoted but
largely unnoticed volunteers: Tom Witt, a member who has provided
considerable trail work sharing not only his time and effort
but even his own equipment, and Art Scissum, the webmaster
for GLT, whose work is ever visible, though he is not! Gay
Mills read the proclamation awarding the title of Volunteer
of the Year and presenting GLT hats to the recipients.
After the close of business, members headed outside to enjoy
the late spring sunset as they canoed the Genesee River.
Genesee Land Trust thanks Dennis Money, executive director
of the Genesee Waterways Center for helping to make this annual
event so pleasurable.
