Annual Meeting 2005
On June 6th, 2005, GLT held its Annual Meeting at the New Lodge
at Veterans Memorial Park in Penfield. Gay Mills, executive director,
called the meeting to order. Penfield Town Supervisor welcomed members
reminding them of the ongoing partnership between the town and the
Land Trust. Suzanne Wheatcraft, presiding board member, announced
voting results for this year’s new officers and board members.
New board members include: Lee Caine, Jean McCreary and Nancy Torpey.
Officers: Thomas Tette, president, Suzanne Wheatcraft, vice president,
Colleen Roof, treasurer and Merri-Lou McKeever, secretary.
Gay Mills, executive director and Margaret Potter, assistant director,
announced Chris Young as volunteer of the year. Some of Chris Young’s
2005 contributions to the Trust included: organizing the Native
Plant Sale, researching grants, speaking on behalf of the Genesee
Land Trust to garden clubs, working at Gardenscape, creating and
planting the Children’s Habitat Garden at Durand Eastman School
in East Irondequoit.
At the conclusion of business, members were invited to walk the
Wild Iris Path at the Hipp Brook Preserve, just a stone’s
throw from the Lodge.
Genesee Land Trust thanks George Wiedemer and the Town of Penfield
for the use of the beautiful new facilities – a comfortable
and lovely spot for an annual meeting.
