Mile-a-Month: The River and Underground Railroad

Did you know Rochester was the last stop on the Underground Railroad for many people? In honor of Juneteenth - the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery on June 19th, 1865 - Genesee River Alliance is hosting a walk to learn about the abolitionist history of Lower Falls.

Please bring a water bottle, dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes. All ages encouraged.

Accessibility: the trail is wide and paved, with a steep incline to get to some falls views. Paved off-street parking at Maplewood Park is available. There is no bathroom.

Covid safety: In accordance with the latest CDC guidance, masks are optional for fully vaccinated attendees. Please do not attend if you are not feeling well for any reason.
