Watercolor Artist Donates Proceeds To Genesee Land Trust
During the month of October,
artist Janet Buchanan Smith, of Ontario, will exhibit her work at
Gallery at the Point at Sodus Point and will donate proceeds to
the Genesee Land Trust, a not-for-profit land conservation organization.
Smith owns acreage of woods and wetland, 87 acres of which, called
Amy’s Ponds” are protected by a conservation easement
with the Trust.
Smith’s great love of nature is demonstrated through her delicate
watercolors, with subjects that include the resident or visiting
wildlife and the habitats they enjoy. Because of her commitment
to maintaining those habitats, Smith has chosen to support the Genesee
Land Trust through her Wetland Watercolors sales. She is an avid
friend of the Trust that now protects nearly 2000 acres in Greater
Rochester – including Amy’s Ponds.
“Janet’s talent as an artist can only be matched by
her generosity to the Trust and its ongoing land preservation efforts,”
said Gay Mills, executive director, Genesee Land Trust.
The public may view Smith’s
work at the Gallery at the Point through the month of October, Wednesday
through Saturday from 12 to 7PM and Sunday from 12 to 5PM.
The Gallery, located
at 851D Greig Street in Sodus Point, is a venture by a group of
six artists from Wayne County and includes traditional and non-traditional
fine art in oil, watercolor, paste, mixed media and drawing mediums
along with photography, prints, jewelry, three-dimensional art and
greeting cards.
