-For Immediate Release-
Genesee Land Trust's Habitat Gardening Club Holds First Meeting
Habitat Gardening Club Meets January 19th at the Brighton Memorial
Garden at 7PM.
Genesee Land Trust’s Habitat Gardening Club, led by Sara Rubin,
of Brighton, will take place on Thursday, January 19, at 7PM at
the Brighton Memorial Library at 2300 Elmwood Ave. at the Town Hall
Complex. Sara Rubin is a volunteer for Genesee Land Trust and a
master gardener. The Rubin Garden was featured on last summer’s
Backyard Habitat Tour earning raves reviews by tour-goers.
This different kind of gardening club will focus on sharing knowledge
or ideas on things such as: rain gardens, roof gardens and useful
native plant species. Rubin asks that participants bring a note
book, a news article that speaks to habitat issues, i.e. the discovery
of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker in the preserved habitat in Arkansas
and, of course, your goals for your garden.
The public is invited to attend the January 19th meeting and attendees
are not expected to be experts at habitat gardening which is defined
as “gardening to protect and attract wildlife.” The
idea of the club is to share information, with opportunities for
everyone to ask and answer questions, and discuss their own garden
delights and challenges. The December 15th meeting will take place
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Brighton Memorial
Library at 2300 Elmwood Ave (adjacent to the Town Hall). Entering
the library, turn right and walk through the Magazine Room. For
more information please call Genesee Land Trust at 256-2130 and
