Preserving Your Farm

Are you a farmer interested in preserving your farm for generations to come?

As a farmer, you know the unique value of your land, its resources, its history, the time and care you spend on good stewardship. You may have a great concern for its future.

Explore how farmers have worked with Genesee Land Trust to achieve their vision.

  • Utilizing New York State Department of Agriculture Farmland Protection Program Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) grant funds to sell a conservation easement. To date, Genesee Land Trust has successfully protected 1000 acres on 5 farms through this program.
  • Preserving active farmland by donating a conservation easement.
  • Forging a long-term partnership with a farm in which Genesee Land Trust purchased the land and the farmers now manage the farm, with a "succession plan" to enable future generations to keep the land in farming.
