Join Genesee River Alliance for an exciting new tour on April 16!

This 1.2-mile, one way walk will be led by Michael Galban and Grandell (Bird) Logan, Historical Interpreters from Ganondagan Seneca Art and Culture Center. Learn some of the history of the Seneca people that lived, fished and hunted along the Genesee River through traditional stories told by these talented Native American Interpreters.  You’ll also see and hear about some of the flora and fauna that is still found on the trail today and its meaning to the Seneca people.

There are two start times, one at 10:00 am and the other at 11:30 am. On the 10 AM tour we’ll walk from Lower Maplewood Park up to the Maplewood Rose Garden and Lower Falls and on the 11:30 AM tour we will start at Maplewood Rose Garden and walk to Lower Maplewood Park.

This is a guided family, and stroller-friendly walk and all ages and abilities are encouraged to walk with us. Please dress appropriately for walking and the weather (sturdy footwear, sun protection, and clothing to accommodate the temperature) Light refreshments will be provided at the end of each walk. Pre-registration required to attend. Please do not attend if you are not feeling well. There is free parking in the lot at Lower Maplewood Park at 107 Bridgeview Drive for the 10 AM walk and at 250 Maplewood Avenue for the 11:30 AM walk. Contact Helen Dumas at hdumas@geneseelandtrust.org with questions.

In accordance with the latest CDC guidance, masks are optional for fully vaccinated attendees. Please continue to be respectful of other attendees and social distance where it’s possible to do so. We know there are varying levels of comfort with these changes and ask for your patience while we navigate this transition together.
