Genesee River Alliance
Revitalizing the Genesee River
13 miles of the Genesee River pass through the City of Rochester, providing a vital recreational and ecological resource.
Genesee River Alliance, an initiative of Genesee Land Trust since 2019, develops partnerships and connections between New York State, the City of Rochester, neighbors, organizations, and businesses all along the river.
Our collection of 1-mile walks (mostly accessible for all abilities and ages) encourage people to explore and enjoy different sections of the river and learn about its history and ecology. We’re also a key stakeholder in river-related projects - especially High Falls State Park - and advocate for diverse voices being heard when planning projects, equitable community access, and environmental conservation.
High Falls State Park Framework and Survey
The Genesee River Alliance creates connections and partnerships between neighbors, organizations, businesses and other river stakeholders to help protect and gain access to the river along the length of the City.
In October 2025, a framework plan for the State Park at High Falls was announced. Please take a moment to look through the plan and tell us your thoughts through this survey!
