Walk the Genesee River - March Mile

  • Church of Love Faith Center 700 Exchange St Rochester, NY, 14608 United States (map)

Rochester's urban corridor along the river is about 13 miles long, and in 2020 the Genesee River Alliance will explore most of it by walking at least a mile a month!

On the 2nd Saturday of each month, we will host a guided walk, ending in December. This month, we’ll walk along the river pointing out some iconic spots. Please note that this walk begins at 9am instead of 10am.

Description: A 2-mile round trip walk along the Genesee Riverway Trail through the PLEX neighborhood. We will cross the Old Railroad Bridge to the University of Rochester and head back on the east side along the trail to Ford St. Bridge and the Church of Love Faith Center.

Meeting Spot: Church of Love Faith Center

Please Note: Rain/snow or shine – dress for the weather. We will provide light refreshments. Please bring your cameras and if you would like, you may bring your dog on a leash.

See parts of the river that perhaps you've never seen, learn some of its history, and take a few beautiful river photographs along the way! Be sure to tag them - #mileamonth, #walktheGenesee. March Mile Update

Upon continued review of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Monroe County Health Department guidelines, Genesee River Alliance plans to move forward with Saturday's walk. We will meet at Church of Love Faith Center at 9 am in the parking lot. The CDC guidelines suggest we all practice “good judgement."

Please consider:

  • If you are feeling ill or have been ill recently, please stay home.

  • If you have traveled out of our area in the last two weeks (especially to high-risk areas) you should stay home.

  • Please avoid direct contact with other people—no handshakes or hugs.

  • If you are high risk/vulnerability due to chronic illness, underlying conditions, etc, we understand if you do not join us on this walk and look forward to seeing you on future ones.

As always, the health and safety of our attendees and staff is our top priority. We will continue to review the situation and will provide any updates or changes as they occur. Please contact me with and questions or concerns that you may have.
