Intro to Nature Photography with Your Cell Phone - Volunteer Training

  • Salmon Creek Nature Preserve 492 Bennett Road Hilton, NY, 14468 United States (map)

Beautiful images that help tell the stories of our local land, water and wildlife are so important. At Genesee Land Trust we’re always looking for more great photographers that will explore our preserves and share the images they capture with us.

Want to join our team of volunteer photographers? You don’t need a fancy camera, if you have a cell phone. (Note, we recommend a phone that has a good camera, which most current models do.)

In this training for new volunteer photographers, you’ll learn the fundamentals of nature photography with your cell phone. Kris Dreessen, a Rochester-based award-winning photojournalist that’s traveled the world documenting beautiful places, will offer you tips and tricks during this free hands-on class at our newest nature preserve in Hilton/Parma.

You’ll get lots of chances to shoot the meadow, pond, stream, trees and wildlife - and get feedback and pointers from a pro. At the end of class, we’ll ask you to send us your favorite images so we can display them at our Grand Opening in September and use them to promote the event.

As a volunteer photographer with the land trust, we will always give you photo credit. We’ll also add you to our volunteer contact list, which we message with requests to capture images across the region.

Space is limited to just 15 people, so please only register if your interest and availability is solid.

If we reach capacity, we will create a wait list and hold future trainings.

If you would like to learn more about our volunteer photography needs or share any existing photographs from a Genesee Land Trust property, please contact Elliotte Bowerman at ebowerman@geneseelandtrust.org or 585.256.2130.
