At the annual RoCo member show, local paper artist Julie Lambert won the Genesee Land Trust prize for “Bobolink.” Join Julie for a lunch n learn artist discussion to hear about her process for hand-making paper and the birding adventure that inspired her to create the piece.
Background:
Julie A. Lambert is a master papermaker, creating and exhibiting her artwork throughout the northeast region including the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, the Modern Visual Arts Gallery in Easton, Pa, the Cooperstown Art Association in Cooperstown and the ROCO. She has received multiple grants and awards.The artist teaches papermaking workshops at local venues. She has given several artist’s talks to different organizations including the ROCO, Batavia Society of Artists, and Niagara Artists Guild. She received a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from SUNY Oswego, where she learned the art of papermaking.
Her work is becoming more fluid as she explores and travels to nearby areas and Europe. Ireland expanded her understanding of the color green. Nature is continuously shifting and influences her creativity. Playing and experimenting with the papermaking medium leads to constant new techniques and surprises. Exploring abstraction, impressionism, architecture, and intuitive art feeds into her growth in artistry.
