10 Years of Cornwall Preserve

  • Cornwall Preserve 3975 Lake Road Williamson, NY, 14589 United States (map)

Time flies when you’re having fun! Join neighbors, friends, and Genesee Land Trust as we celebrate 10 Years of Cornwall Preserve. In 2016, Genesee Land Trust was able to protect this lakefront gem thanks to your support and an amazing opportunity from the Cornwall family. Since then, we’ve been busy--trails, events, and projects that have transformed the property into a community asset for people and wildlife, with countless memories made along the way.

We want to thank you for helping make this possible so to celebrate we’re throwing a party! Join us for snacks, games, guided walks, and fun on a summer afternoon—save the date for Saturday, August 22 from 1:00- 3:00 PM.

1pm Parking
1:15pm* Welcome and brief remarks
1:45pm Snacks, games, and celebration
2pm Guided walks, “Summer Sights of Cornwall,” & plein air painters

*Event schedule is flexible

Calling plein air painters of all ages and skill levels!

As part of this event, Genesee Land Trust is inviting plein air artists to be out along the trails at Cornwall Preserve between 12:00 and 3:00pm. The event itself begins at 1:00pm with remarks, followed by snacks, games, and guided hikes of the Preserve. Visitors on guided hikes or individual event attendees can walk the trails and find artists working watch as your artwork comes together. This is an unsupported plein air event, so artists are responsible for finding their own spot and bringing in all the materials you need.

Artists can park at the main parking lot at 3975 Lake Road, the small lot at the end of Hamilton Street Extension, or in the temporary parking area west of Lakeview Cemetery. There will be two accessible port-a-potties at the Preserve that day.

Trail map and information on Cornwall Preserve is available here.

Looking to Volunteer?

The Land Trust is looking for several volunteers to help on the day of the event to help with set-up, parking, games, and guided hikes. If you’re willing to help with one of these please reach out to Kevin Farrell at kfarrell@geneseelandtrust.org. Thank you!
