Gosnell Big Woods is a unique property, featuring a large pasture, an old growth forest, and a small meadow.  Join Genesee Land Trust and John Boettcher as we take a walk exploring these areas to learn about what they hold and their natural history.

Please dress for the weather. If there’s a lot of snow, consider packing snowshoes or tall boots. This event will only be cancelled in the event of extremely low temperatures, dangerous road conditions, or severe storms. Note - this event will move slowly, but the woods trail can be wet, slippery, and there are some steep hills.

Trail Description: Walking trails have been established into the Big Woods, around the Big Field, and connecting to other Town of Webster trails. Trails lead from the parking lot to the Big Woods.
The Big Field Trail travels 1.2 miles around the perimeter of the field. Two-tenths of a mile north of the parking lot is the Big Woods Trail, a 0.7-mile (round trip out and back) hike through old-growth forest. A third trail, the Meadow Trail, heads east for 1/2 mile (round trip) loop through woods and lush meadow. Hiking connections to Whiting Road Nature Preserve and the Hojack Trail can be seen at the Friends of Webster Trails website.

Accessibility: For questions about accessibility, reach out to Inclusion Point of Contact, Mckenna Erwell, at merwell@geneseelandtrust.org.

Parking: A parking lot is located at the corner of Vosburg and Drumm Roads. Trails begin at this point and lead into the Big Woods.

Pets: Dogs, other pets, emotional support, comfort, and companion animals are not allowed at Genesee Land Trust events. Although your pet may be friendly, everyone has different familiarity and experiences with animals. Thank you for being respectful to other attendees.

Service Animals: Service animals, which are dogs or miniature horses that are specifically trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities, are welcome. Service animals must always be under the control of the handler, housebroken, cleaned up after, and vaccinated in accordance with state laws.
