Genesee County Farmland Protection Workshop

  • Genesee County Old Courthouse 7 West Main Street Batavia, NY, 14020 United States (map)

Genesee County is hosting a Farmland Protection workshop for farmers/farmland owners interested in permanently conserving their farmland.

In partnership with Genesee Land Trust, Genesee Valley Conservancy, and Western New York Land Conservancy, this workshop will dive into what it takes to protect your farmland, including the minimum requirements, application process, project deliverables, and more.

This voluntary Farmland Protection program funds the purchase of conservation easements that restrict development of the property and ensure the State's most productive farmland is reserved for agricultural uses. All landowners from an interested farm operation or lessors of farmland MUST attend this informational workshop to be considered for grant funding from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, March 18th at the Genesee County Old Courthouse in the Legislature Chambers on the 3rd floor. There will be a presentation followed by plenty of time for questions and conversation. Registration is strongly encouraged but not required. A reminder email with more information will be sent ahead of the event.
