Lincoln Mills

Location: Towns of Penfield and Perinton, Monroe County

Size: 5 acres

Description: Woodlot on the banks of Irondequoit Creek, former site of a Seneca Indian trail.

History: The conservation easement was donated in 1992 by Mr. and Mrs. Schuyler F. Baldwin. Memories of Mrs. Baldwin's family home, once surrounded by woods, apple orchards, and fields where her daughter rode her horse, reinforced her desire to see the integrity of her ancestral land remain. "As long as a few people realize what is the right thing to do," she explains, "and hang on, and not give up...Yes, that is the forward-looking thing to do."

What is a conservation easement?
